Just 60 km (45min drive) northwest of Nairobi, set high on the edge of the Rift Valley escarpment, lies the enchanting Kinale House. At an elevation of 8,700 feet this rustic, warm and luxurious 2-storey wooden home whisks visitors away from reality. It is set on beautiful well manicured grounds and boasts a local landmark, a truly majestic stand of over 100 year old eucalyptus trees planted by British settlers in the early 1900s.

    Kinale House is a private home that has been tastefully converted into a highland cottage. Enjoy the luxury of a steam bath or sauna after your long flight into Kenya, the perfect way to settle in before starting a safari into the 'wilds' of Kenya.

Kinale House borders the Kikuyu Escarpment Forest Reserves. The forests are historically known to be of rich biodiversity with species of international significance both in flora and fauna. At this high altitude the air is always cool and crisp, making a refreshing change while on safari.

The grounds and surrounding indigenous forests are teeming with numerous species of birds, a haven for keen birders.

A great place to relax with a drink in the gazebo or by one of the large fireplaces. For the more active take a walk through the indigenous forests or enjoy trout fishing in the private waters. Kinale House has resident bushbuck, duiker, colobus monkeys, sykes monkeys, porcupines, tree hyrax and river otters. A great place to start or end your safari!
